Cathy Barnard

Candidate for Representative Town Meeting

About Cathy

Cathy’s first political act was protesting the Vietnam War as a third grader in Redding, CT. From there she went on to petitioning Congress as a high school student and then to questioning the Boards of Finance and Education on their priorities as her kids went through the Simsbury Public Schools.

Cathy’s husband, Jim, has been spending summers in Southeast Connecticut since he was a child leading them to build their retirement home in Waterford.

Cathy currently serves as the Legislative Committee Chair on the Eastern Regional Tourism District, on the Board of the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, is Chair of the Democratic Town Committee and on the Waterford Diversity, Equity Committee.

Cathy, a proud UCONN grad, was an educator of preschool children for 18 years before starting a small business. She and Jim have three grown children.
